A Beginner’s Guide to a Fall Roof Checkup

This past Saturday marked the change from summer to autumn. Today, we decided to offer tips on how to conduct your own roof checkup so you can determine if you need to call us at Blue Angels Roofing.

Here’s what you need to look for.

1. Examine the edge of your roof. Your roof has many defenses against the upcoming winter weather. Look out for things in the soffit, fascia, and fasteners like:
   1. Faded, peeling, or bubbling paint
   2. Loose, worn fasteners
   3. Visible rust
   4. Missing or cracked sealant
2. Clean up gunk from off and around your roof
   1. Keep an eye on branches and cut them back around six (6) feet to prevent limbs from touching your roof, especially when weighed down by snow
   2. Inspect your shingles to make sure they’re all there and neat
3. Attic Attention
   1. Make sure your insulation is free of damage and not worn down
   2. Inspect vents and fans
   3. Get rid of animal pests
