Not sure if you need to call a professional? You can always do a mini-inspection yourself and see if you need to. Here are some signs to look for:
- The screw holes have increased in size. The roof panels are held together by screws. They’re made of metal, so as time passes, movement in the panels (and also just naturally) will cause these holes to increase in size. This can lead to water seeping through, or the holes get so big, the panels slip off.
- Standing water on your roof.
- A sagging deck. The deck is located between the exterior of the roof and the joists on the interior. If you have a wooden deck, the leaks will make it sag inward.
- Bubbles on a flat roof. They can fill with water and lead to water damage.
- Cracked shingles. When shingles are at the end of their lifespan, they’ll do all sorts of things: crack, curl, and buckle. If this happens, water will have easy access to roof layers underneath.
